AI TRANSPARENCY & RIGHTS

Human-led.
AI-assisted.
Manually finished.
Rights-documented.

POTSH Music creates human-led, AI-assisted music and artist worlds — with rights and provenance documentation maintained for commercially released works.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Transparency isn't compliance. It's identity.

POTSH doesn't disclose AI because it's required to. POTSH discloses because obscurity is a dead end — for the label, for the industry, and for anyone trying to build something that lasts.

The music industry has a long record of hidden production. Autotune ran uncredited for a decade. Session musicians built entire catalogs behind a single name. Ghostwriting is a billion-dollar institution no one talks about. AI is the latest tool in a line that stretches back to the first electric guitar. The tool isn't the story. The choice is.

The only bet that wins long-term: named humans, documented process, irrefutable provenance. When the world knows exactly what was made, how it was made, and who decided — that's not a liability. That's leverage. It's what makes the work licensable, defensible, and compound over time.

That's the posture here. Named. Documented. Shipped.

HOW POTSH MAKES MUSIC

The actual process. Not a vague statement.

Nick Boyd — founder, Sainte Nick — is the creative director, A&R, producer, and final approver on every track that leaves this label. He was on Nike's Global Leadership Team for 20 years. He knows what it means to ship work that has to hold up under scrutiny. That standard didn't change when the tools got better.

The creative decision chain runs in one direction: concept to direction to AI-assisted generation to human curation to human finishing to release. AI is not making decisions. It's executing direction. The same way Pro Tools doesn't write songs.

Here is what the process looks like in practice:

This is not a gray area. There is a named human responsible for every decision in that chain. That human is Nick Boyd.

AI BILL OF MATERIALS

What tools POTSH uses. Disclosed openly.

Every label that uses AI has a tool stack. Most don't publish it. POTSH does — because the tools matter to sync supervisors, DSP partners, and anyone doing clearance due diligence. If a tool is on this list, POTSH has reviewed its licensing terms, confirmed it operates within the parameters required for commercial release, and maintains evidence of that determination.

ElevenLabs Music

Voice synthesis · TTS · Music generation

License: Merlin + Kobalt deals in place. STATUS: APPROVED for flagship releases.

Used for voice synthesis on AI artist catalog including Riley Gavins, FLONYX, and POTSH Gospel Choir. Human vocal direction precedes all generation.

Kits.AI

Voice cloning · Royalty-free models

License: Platform license. STATUS: APPROVED.

Royalty-free model library used within platform terms for character voice development across AI artist projects.

Udio

Music co-creation · Licensed sandbox

Note: Litigation ongoing (Sony v. Udio). POTSH uses Udio only within licensed parameters — not as a workaround, as a documented constraint. STATUS: APPROVED with disclosure.

Any Udio-assisted content is flagged in provenance records and disclosed to licensing partners on request.

Veo (Google)

Video generation · Provenance watermarking

License: Google platform terms. Veo outputs include SynthID watermarking and provenance data by default. STATUS: APPROVED.

Used for music video and visual content generation. Provenance watermarks preserved in final deliverables.

Runway

Music video · Character animation · Visual production

License: Runway platform terms. STATUS: APPROVED.

Used for artist visual identity, music video production, and character animation across the POTSH roster.

Midjourney

Album art · Visual world-building

License: Midjourney platform terms. STATUS: APPROVED with disclosure.

Used for album art, promotional visuals, and artist world-building. AI-assisted origin disclosed to licensing partners on request.

Suno

Idea-sparking only

NOT USED IN FINAL RELEASES.

Due to ongoing UMG/Sony litigation overhang, Suno is not used in any commercially released POTSH work. Used only for internal ideation. No Suno output enters the release pipeline.

PROVENANCE DOCUMENTATION

What POTSH maintains internally.

Provenance isn't a checkbox. It's the difference between a catalog that holds up in a clearance audit and one that doesn't. POTSH maintains the following records for commercially released works:

These records are available for bona fide licensing, platform, distributor, and legal inquiries. They are not public by default — but they exist, they are organized, and they can be produced.

For original works offered for sync or licensing: POTSH represents that it controls the relevant commercial exploitation rights for the submitted recording and composition unless otherwise stated. Covers, remixes, mashups, interpolations, samples, and third-party materials are separately identified and cleared where required.

POTSH does not knowingly use uncleared samples, protected third-party lyrics, unauthorized voice likenesses, or misleading artist associations in commercially released original works.

DSP TRANSPARENCY FRAMEWORK

Platform compliance — current posture.

The major streaming platforms are in active policy development around AI-generated and AI-assisted music. POTSH tracks these requirements and maintains compliance as they evolve. Current posture:

Apple Music

POTSH complies with Apple's AI-generated content tagging requirements. Works are tagged as "AI-assisted" where required under Apple's current submission standards. Human authorship and directorial credit are documented at the release level.

Spotify

POTSH complies with Spotify's AI music policy. Human authorship is documented and verifiable. POTSH does not use fully automated pipelines or AI-only content factories — human curation and finishing are present in every release.

Content Credentials / C2PA

POTSH is actively monitoring the Content Credentials standard (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) and will adopt it as it becomes accessible for independent labels. Google Veo outputs — already used in POTSH visual production — include SynthID provenance watermarking by default, which is directionally consistent with the C2PA framework.

All other DSPs

POTSH distributes to 14+ platforms across 78+ countries. Where platform-specific AI disclosure requirements exist or emerge, POTSH's documentation posture is designed to satisfy them. Inquiries from specific platforms should go to legal@potsh.com.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What licensing partners, supervisors, and DSPs ask.

Is POTSH Music's catalog AI-generated?

Human-led, AI-assisted. Every track is directed and manually finished by Nick Boyd. AI is the instrument. Boyd is the musician. The catalog is not the output of an automated pipeline — it is the output of a defined creative process that uses AI as a production tool, the same way a producer uses a synthesizer or a DAW.

What is disclosed on sync submissions?

Standard sync submission packages from POTSH include: AI-assisted creation disclosure, human contribution summary, ISRC and UPC, clearance statement, stems availability, and tool provenance on request. Supervisors who need additional documentation for clearance review should contact sync@potsh.com directly.

Does POTSH Music comply with DSP AI policies?

Yes. Apple Music tagging requirements are met where applicable. Spotify AI music policy compliance is maintained. Provenance documentation exists for every commercially released work. If a specific DSP has a compliance question, it should be directed to legal@potsh.com — POTSH will respond with documentation.

What tools does POTSH use?

ElevenLabs Music, Kits.AI, Udio (within licensed parameters only), Veo, Runway, and Midjourney. Suno is explicitly not used in final releases. The full AI Bill of Materials — including licensing status and use case for each tool — is documented above on this page.

Can POTSH provide documentation for platform disputes?

Yes. Rights and provenance documentation is available for bona fide inquiries from licensing partners, DSPs, distributors, and legal representatives. Platform disputes and legal notices should be directed to legal@potsh.com. Response time is typically 3–5 business days for standard inquiries.

Who is legally responsible for POTSH Music's catalog?

POTSH Boutique LLC, Portland, OR. Nick Boyd is the founder and the named human responsible for all creative and commercial decisions. The label is not a shell, a pipeline, or an anonymous operation — there is a named person and a registered entity behind every release.
